I'll admit, after seeing the original 28 days later, with it's mini-DV-verite look, I was pumped on the Danny Boyle/Alex Garland vibe once again.
28 Weeks Later was one of the best shot, best scored, best edited movies of 2007.
The movie was so well cast, and the acting was so good, that I didn't care that it was as gory as it was.

I seriously don't like horror/slasher films, but if the story is good and it's well acted, they're really fun to watch.
What I really dug about this movie, too, was that I got to see the Australian actress Rose Byrne in a bigger role than she had in Danny Boyle/Alex Garland's Sunshine, which I did catch in the theater last summer.

She is a very strong, understated talent, and the emotion she conveys in the frame is absolutely wonderful, without saying a word.
Like Ripley from Alien without being loud.
And, come on. Damn.

Another actress that was very notable for both her acting and the way the lens ate her up is Imogeen Poots, who has a gorgeously sculptured natural face, and a very slim, boyish figure that was great for the extended chase sequences that she found herself involved in throughout the film.
But she's a wee young. She was also good in V for Vendetta.

I'm really enjoying these 2 movies. Definitely rent them both if you haven't seen them already!
The hidef-sequence at the end of 28 Weeks is absolutely beautiful, and the medium mixing is really cool.
