A Very Private Letter To Michelle Ryan

Word came today that the lovely and talented British actress that shares my last name is wanting
to quit the American entertainment business, saying her Hollywood career is over because her show,
a lame warmed-over version of The Bionic Woman was not renewed for a second season.
The only reason, Michelle, is that the show was terribly written and the acting was ham-fisted.
You did nothing wrong, in fact you could do so much better. Here in America, we just keep pushing it.
We're on a big TV show...it gets cancelled because of the writer's strike? What do we do next? We
go do another show, or make another movie, we keep auditioning and we keep trying. That's what you have
to do, Michelle. We're Ryans, after all. All of us, you me, Meg Ryan, Saving Private Ryan,
"Ryan's Hope,"Nolan Ryan. We're all media whores, we Ryans, and that's OK. Please don't give
up on America, please don't leave us. Remember, I'm a filmmaker, too, and an American one. You always, always
have an opportunity to be in one of my films, and if you can get a hold of fellow Brit Billie Piper, she can
come to. I've got a camcorder and a Super8 camera. And no, it's not that kind of movie. Unless you wanted it to be.
